Former Moundridge High School principal Clark Wedel is set to return to USD 423, this time as interim superintendent.
In a press release sent today, the USD 423 Board of Education announced Wedel will be stepping into the superintendent role on July 1, 2026, after the resignation of Cody Rierson takes effect on June 30.
It will be a two-year interim position, extending through the 2027-2028 school year.
“We loved our time in Moundridge, and I am excited to fill the role of interim superintendent for the district,” Wedel said in the press release.
Wedel brings more than 35 years of educational experience to this role. He spent 10 years as the principal of MHS and seven years as the superintendent at USD 312 Haven. Most recently, he worked as a Business Development/Education Consultant for Wiens and Company Construction in Hutchinson.
“We understand the importance of not rushing the decision to find a leader for USD 423, and it became evident throughout this process that an interim leader with previous superintendent experience and, more importantly, experience with our school district, was the appropriate decision for us at this time,” USD 423 BOE President Michael Beasley said in the press release. “We are excited to welcome Mr. Wedel back to Moundridge and look forward to the leadership he will provide the district.”
Wedel and his wife, Marilyn, have been married for nearly 39 years and have three grown children and four grandchildren.
