All Moundridge Recreation Commission baseball, softball and T-ball games scheduled for today have been canceled.
This is due to inclement weather.
Rec Director Jeremy Moore said the fields are too wet to play on, thanks to the recent and ongoing rainfall in Moundridge.
At the time of this writing, he also said all neighboring towns except Goessel have canceled their rec league games.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of rain all day and night.
McPherson County is under a flash flood watch until Friday morning.
“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the NWS announced. “Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.”
The rainfall could include thunderstorms in the area.
These “storms can bring flash flooding and damaging winds, [as well as] hail and localized flooding,” according to AccuWeather.
If and when the games will be rescheduled has yet to be determined, though Moore said he is working on makeup dates for next week so the final games of the season can be played.
Should flooding conditions arise, the NWS reminds citizens that they should “not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don’t
drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.”
